Inspiration
We were intrigued by the concept of helping content creators reconnect with the work they've already made. Most tools are built for what's next, but doesn't offer creators a chance to look back on how far they've come. We found our spark in the design prompt itself: _ "returning feels as natural as creating." _ and built our idea from there.
What it does
Daydream is a centralized creator dashboard that makes looking back feel as natural as creating. When users open it, they are immediately met with a dashboard screen which displays unique creator journey data in a grid, e.g. memories. Users are also able to view all of their posts across all platforms and view analytics for better future performance.
How we built it
We followed a very simple research, ideate, design formatting when it came to our project. Within a 24 hour time frame, it was important that we kept research to a minimum and maintained efficiency when it came to our ideating process. From there, we spent the remainder of the time building high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, implementing all of our ideas into a singular app.
Challenges we ran into
Our ideation was messy at first. We were unsure of whether or not our app aligned with the prompt's details. However, after meeting with mentors and talking out how to restructure the app, we managed to find our direction.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Daydream gives creators a way to view their journey as a whole and we're proud that we've given them a perspective into that which many other apps don't provide or give minimal insight.
What we learned
We also learned that a strong problem statement does more than frame the work. Every time we debated a feature or a screen, we came back to our statement and asked whether it moved us toward creators reconnecting with their past in a way that felt personal and alive.
What's next for Daydream
Better integrated social features. We want content creators to be able to create and look back on all their accounts seamlessly. Additionally, we want them to be able to build off of their previous content, so adding a build in video editor for all social media formats would be ideal and progress towards making their work more routine.
