Inspiration

Project ideas and notes often contain many things to do, but turning them into organized tasks can take time. I wanted to build a simple productivity assistant that bridges the gap between having an idea and taking action. This inspired me to create DayBridge AI, which transforms project notes into actionable tasks with suggested priorities and deadlines.

What It Does

DayBridge AI allows users to enter project notes in plain English and generate task suggestions using Amazon Nova Lite through Amazon Bedrock. Each suggestion includes a task title, priority, and proposed deadline. Users can choose which suggestions to save, add tasks manually, and track total, pending, and completed tasks through a dashboard.

How I Built It

I built DayBridge AI using Python and Streamlit to create a simple, interactive web application. I integrated Amazon Bedrock using Boto3 to send project notes to Amazon Nova Lite and process the generated task suggestions. I used SQLite to store tasks locally and maintain their status between interactions.

The application combines AI-assisted task generation with traditional task management. The interface lets users review suggestions before saving them, while the dashboard provides a quick overview of their progress.

Challenges I Faced

One of the main challenges was integrating AWS authentication with the Amazon Bedrock API and ensuring the application could successfully generate task suggestions. I also needed to structure the AI response so that task titles, priorities, and deadlines could be displayed consistently in the application.

Testing the complete workflow—from entering project notes to generating suggestions, saving tasks, and updating the dashboard—helped me identify and resolve issues along the way.

What I Learned

Building DayBridge AI gave me practical experience integrating a generative AI model into a working web application. I learned more about using Amazon Bedrock and Boto3, managing application data with SQLite, and building interactive interfaces with Streamlit. I also learned the importance of testing the complete user workflow, managing cloud authentication carefully, and documenting a project so others can run it.

What's Next

DayBridge AI is a hackathon prototype with room to grow. Future improvements could include smarter deadline recommendations, task editing, reminders, and integrations with calendars and project management tools.

My goal is to make it easier for people to turn their ideas into organized, manageable work—one task at a time.
