Inspiration - I have been an operations manager for over 20 years and know the struggles the staff in retail stores and management face. Its a difficult business. Its not normal retail. Cellular means you deal with contract and paperwork and bankstatemnts and millions of rands worth of stock and upgrade leads and and and. My quest is to make cellular store operations easy for the staff and management.

What it does - Its is designed around operations so daily checklists, audits, stock takes, sales, performance management, leads, customer service feedback, ticketing system, chatgpt chatbot, escalation paths, for issues, paperwork verification using OCR and OpenAi.

How we built it - Ill be honest, started with Gemini in firebase studio and aged about 40 years in 6 months. then moved over to VSCode with Codex and have managed to toll out more features in 3 months than i did in 6 months.

Challenges we ran into - With codex, I have not had challenges. Codex managed to sort out GPS clock in location with 1 prompt. The only issue i have with COdex is my ability to explain what i need. Im the problem- LOL

Accomplishments that we're proud of - My app is being used by 2 of the largest MTN franchise dealers in South Africa as well as another 8 dealers. I have around 1100 users working on the app every day making their lifes easier. I have saved companies money as they have moved their click is systems to Day1Ops, ticketing system, and many other apps they used to use now all work inside Day1Ops.

What we learned - Ill take a line from the movie "Robots" See a need, fill a need. Ive learned that with OpenAI and codex, you can make anyone's need a reality. Its amazing what you can do.

What's next for Day1Ops - I have had meetings with Telkom and Cell-C who are the other network operators in south Africa and both have showed interest. I work in this app daily, yesterday i created with the help of codex, a whiteboard feature where users can come together to share ideas on projects etc. This app grows daily and with that benefits for each user that uses it.

I have now added a WhatsApp API to the app. Through a WhatsApp command center i can add users who can send a message to the app asking questions like "Who did not submit checklists today" or Who did not complete their stock take today" once the WhatsApp is sent, the app will return the details so the user/management doesn't even need to log into the app.
