I’ve missed job opportunities, important updates, and even urgent messages—buried under a flood of unread emails and scattered chats. I’ve lived the chaos of app-switching, where Slack, Gmail, WhatsApp, and others all demand your attention, but none give you clarity. That frustration led me here. As someone from a non-technical background, I was tired of feeling like I had to choose between staying organized or staying sane.
So I built Dawnn—not just an app, but a personal declaration. A declaration that we deserve better communication tools. Ones that are intelligent, respectful of privacy, and actually help us work smarter, not harder.
What it does
Dawnn is your AI-powered, privacy-first unified inbox—built to declutter your digital life. It brings together your emails, chats, and notifications from Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp, and more into one seamless interface, powered by on-device AI that: • Learns your behavior to prioritize what matters • Auto-labels messages for smarter inbox management • Works locally, without sending your data to the cloud • Syncs across desktop, mobile, and web • Gives you productivity insights via Smart Analytics
No more lost emails. No more switching tabs. Just peace of mind.
How I built it
I built Dawnn solo in bolt.new, using: • Supabase for authentication and secure backend • React, Vite, and TailwindCSS for the frontend • ChatGPT, Cursor AI, and 21st.dev for guidance and building speed • A Matrix-style backend model to prepare for full cross-platform communication (like Beeper)
From design to code to integrations—every screen, every function, was handcrafted in a few intense days.
Challenges I ran into • Connecting Supabase OAuth with Gmail and Slack APIs • Resolving Vite import paths after migrating from another project • Making the frontend sync perfectly with backend logic • Learning new tools like Supabase, matrix, bridging and Bolt from scratch on Day 1 • Staying motivated while being a solo builder from a non-tech background
But every error became a lesson. Every crash pushed me closer to clarity.
Accomplishments that I’m proud of • Learning Supabase and OAuth integration in one night • Building and designing the entire app solo, without any prior backend experience • Creating an app that actually solves a real problem I face every day • Designing a system that respects user privacy while using powerful AI • Having a working MVP of Dawnn with Gmail and Slack already integrated
What I learned • The power of AI and privacy-first architecture • How to bridge frontends with secure backend authentication • Supabase Auth flows and Vite environment quirks • How to build with clarity under pressure • That even without a CS degree, I can create something meaningful
What’s next for Dawnn-Unified-Communication
This is just the beginning. ✅ I plan to integrate all major messaging/email apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, LinkedIn, Outlook, etc.) ✅ Add semantic AI search that learns from user behavior ✅ Train the AI to auto-organize and summarize your day ✅ Release mobile and desktop apps ✅ And if I win, I’ll use the funding to hire developers and turn Dawnn into a full-fledged startup.
Because this isn’t just about communication. It’s about clarity. Control. And finally feeling on top of your digital life.
