Inspiration
I saw how Jumia used to manage the sale of products flawlessly and needed the same setup for my uncle’s coffee machine business, where buyers can literally search for a product online, and SEO locates his listed equipment and presents the website to the buyer with all sale details and information about the business.
What it does
Today, buyers can visit the business website and browse the available equipment. They can search through the variety of equipment and filter by category. The seller can view and track orders, see customer contact details, create flash sales and promotional banners, manage appliances, track invoice status, print or save invoices as PDFs, and reach out to customers.
How we built it
React and TypeScript for the frontend; Express for the backend; and Drizzle ORM with PostgreSQL for database access and storage.
Challenges we ran into
Storing images in the database as Base64 instead of using separate blob storage saved us on resource consumption and extra configuration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that the website lists equipment for buyers and lets sellers manage orders and invoices.
What we learned
I learned to transform a business catalog from a simple equipment-listing website into an order-tracking and stock-management platform, with the potential to support the needs of many storefronts.
What's next for Dawa Equips
