Electric Vehicles Driver

Inspiration

I come from Hanoi, Vietnam, where vehicle emissions and construction sites significantly affect health and the environment. Therefore, I always wanted to find a solution to promote people to change the pollution situation, and I realized that Electric Vehicles are the answer I need. This game is a hopeful way for me to spread my desire to protect the environment to the world.

What it does

The game operates by connecting the electric vehicle to its destination using puzzle pieces. Players need to touch each puzzle piece to rotate them in the correct direction. The destination of the Electric Vehicle will be a charging station or clean energy sources to protect the environment. After each level, the game will display the time taken and a lesson related to the theme of that level. In addition to the traditional mode, the game also features a Taxi mode where players can earn additional CO2 Certificates (the in-game currency) to upgrade their vehicles. Players can add their purchased vehicles to Google Wallet as a collection on their Android phones. The game is available in both English and Japanese versions. In the future, I will try to add more languages to make it more convenient for players.

How we built it

The game was built using Flutter to enable cross-platform publishing for Android, iOS, and web. I utilized the Basis template from the Flutter game toolkit to expedite the game development process. Google Wallet API and l10n (localization) were also integrated into the game.

Challenges we ran into

I am a web developer, and I never thought I would create a game until I discovered Flutter - a cross-platform framework capable of making games. Making the game initially had some difficulties, but luckily, I managed to complete it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The thing I am most proud of is that I could grasp the Dart language and Flutter quite easily. I only had 15 days to come up with an idea and implement the game. Fortunately, I had friends who supported me wholeheartedly.

What we learned

Through the challenge, I learned Flutter and how to create a game using the Flutter game toolkit. I also gained more knowledge about Electric Vehicles and clean energy sources while creating content for the game. Through this game, I want people to explore ways to protect the environment for a sustainable future for humanity.

What's next for Electric Vehicles Driver

I have just completed a Flutter course and found it to be a promising framework. I will definitely apply it to my work to create more educational products.
