Inspiration
We think that most of the web 2.0 dating apps are broken since they don't provide an opportunity to date-and-earn, but rather only extract value from its users. We think that the next dating app should be community-owned and provide value via NFT-ized "achievements" and fungible tokens that redirect profits back to the community.
What it does
DatingScan enables users to create a profile and see a nearby users that want to date.
How we built it
Our idea was to build a proof-of-concept app with the minimum amount of features.
Challenges we ran into
1/ Reveal like/dislike (currently a user can see who liked/disliked his profile without a need to pay with a token for this feature) 2/ Reveal contacts (currently all the contacts are encrypted)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
1/ Built a working front-end from scratch 2/ Create profile contract 3/ Subgraph integration 4/ Network guard: only Polygon & Mumbai networks are allowed 5/ User search via geo coordinates 6/ IPFS integration 7/ Teamed up with MCS (https://www.m-c-s.xyz/) students and alumni
What we learned
1/ We should consider using zero-knowledge proofs to hide the identities of the users 2/ Need a bigger team than 1 dev + 1 manager
What's next for DatingScan
1/ We're planning to deploy on Polygon in 1 month continuing our bootstrapping efforts 2/ We're considering integration with Lens protocol launched by Aave
