Inspiration

The idea behind DateNest emerged from a wish to develop a dating app that focuses on authentic connections rather than mindless swiping. Observing how many current platforms emphasize quantity over quality, we aimed to create something that genuinely nurtures meaningful relationships. My goal is to establish an environment where individuals feel secure, appreciated, and motivated to connect with others who align with their interests, values, and long-term aspirations.

What it does

DateNest assists individuals in discovering compatible matches through a user-friendly and engaging experience. Users can create profiles that delve deeper than just basic details, showcasing their personal values, interests, and relationship aspirations. The app offers: Profile Verification: Guarantees genuine profiles to foster a reliable community. Icebreaker Prompts: Helps users initiate conversations in imaginative ways, encouraging more meaningful connections. Privacy and Security Features: Provides encrypted data management, secure login, and robust privacy settings.

How we built it

I adopted a comprehensive approach to create DateNest: Frontend: Developed using Angular, which enables quick, responsive interfaces and a smooth user experience. Backend: Built on .NET Core, offering a robust framework for managing user data, profiles, and match requests. Database: Utilized SQL to organize and oversee user profiles, preferences, and match interactions. Cloudinary Integration: Handled profile images and media via Cloudinary for effective and secure media management.

Challenges we ran into

Building DateNest came with several intriguing challenges: Ensuring Security and Privacy: Safeguarding user data and establishing a secure platform were paramount. This necessitated the implementation of encryption, robust authentication, and privacy measures. Encouraging User Engagement: Finding the right equilibrium between providing an engaging experience and not overwhelming users with excessive features proved to be a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I take great pride in a number of achievements in this project: User-Centered Design: I designed an intuitive, user-friendly interface that promotes real engagement. High Security Standards: I established strong security protocols to protect data privacy and ensure profile authenticity.

What we learned

During the entire DateNest process, we really enjo... User Experience Design: As a result, I came to recognize the importance of providing an experience that is tangible and relatable to the users, who are the ones on the path to finding the right person.

Backend Optimization: My capabilities in terms of back-end optimization for real-time interactions have been refined, helping us to outstrip the competition.

What's next for DateNest

Our DateNest has big ideas for the future, namely: AI-Driven Match Recommendations: Deploying AI to adjust match recommendations with data (user behavior and preferences). In-App Events and Community Features: Designing virtual events and functions that involve many people to develop a sense of community.
