Inspiration

I was inspired by a software created by Suwandi Soh, which I learned about while watching the Endgame podcast. It’s a SaaS product offering HRIS, payroll, and similar services tailored to Indonesian MSMEs. This sparked my interest in creating software that could support Indonesian MSMEs. However, the market for POS, payroll, HRIS, and other information systems is already quite saturated. I realized I needed a unique angle. After watching some videos about data mining and business intelligence, I thought: what if 30 million out of Indonesia’s 66 million digital MSMEs could access data analytics and BI tools, like large corporations and enterprises do? Empowering MSMEs to leverage data could enable them to compete effectively in this data-driven world.

What It Does

Our BI & Analytics platform enables MSMEs to generate reports easily from their data, without requiring extensive technical adjustments.

How We Built It

The platform was built using: Backend: Laravel and FastAPI Frontend: Vue.js (chosen for its easier learning curve, especially for my colleagues) Data Processing: Python Database: PostgreSQL Collaboration: Git and GitHub

Challenges We Faced

We started with limited knowledge in data analytics, business intelligence, and data mining, which meant we had to put in extra effort to learn these fields. Additionally, this is our first collaborative project, and I am new to the role of project lead.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

Reaching the finals in the National Innovation Competition held by BINUS University, one of Indonesia’s top computing and technology campuses, is a significant achievement for our team.

What We Learned

We gained new skills and learned to be less idealistic, focusing more on market needs—especially after facing tough competition in the finals.

What's Next for Datadok

Technical Goals: Develop more report presets and enhance our BI editor. Impact Goals: Ensure our product truly benefits society and creates meaningful impact.
