Inspiration
Seniors have different needs, abilitites and interest. We were inspired by the gaps in access to care and social connection. We wanted to help community workers decide where to focus volunteers and how to plan suitable outreach based on different age-group of sseniors
What it does
SilverWatch brings population and eldercare service data together in an interactive dashboard. It ranks planning areas for outreach, shows their senior age-group breakdowns and explains the factors behind each priority score. Workers can use these insights to guide visits, then speak with seniors to understand their individual needs and thereby, provide a targeted care.
How we plan to built it
We will use Databricks notebooks to ingest public datasets into Bronze Delta tables, clean and match them to planning areas in Silver tables, and calculate outreach priority scores in Gold tables. Lakeflow Jobs will coordinate the pipeline, Unity Catalog will manage access, and MLflow will track scoring experiments. Databricks SQL and AI/BI dashboards will present the results.
Learning and challenges
Our team is learning how to build a Databricks pipeline and turn separate datasets into useful decisions. Key challenges include matching geographic boundaries, handling different data reference years and designing an explainable score. We also need to distinguish area-level outreach priorities from an individual senior’s actual circumstances.
