Inspiration

The primary motive was personal experiences with data loss.

What it does

Warns you if you ever share more info than you agree to when you sign up. It also helps you manage/organize your data usage.

How we built it

We used JavaScript/HTML/CSS and WebExtensions.

Challenges we ran into

We had to learn modern JavaScript (ES6, async/await, etc.), CSS, and WebExtensions all at once.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a solid app in 19 hours of near-continuous coding.

What we learned

We learned a lot about Chrome/Firefox extensions, data security, and software engineering.

What's next for DataBlock

We'd like to expand the features, clean up the code, and overall just polish it — hopefully it can be published one day!
