Inspiration

As we know that Safaricom, has a competitive advantage here in Kenya compared to all other telecommunication companies, I has been hit with a lot of security issues, people pretending to be customer care are conning people by telling them that they will be helping them. To curb this issues, I came up with an application that can encrypt and decrypt document.

What it does

Data Shield encrypts and decrypts data making it safe, one the two people with who shared the document to each other can be able in encrypt and decrypt.

How we built it

I used android studio software where I used Java to develop the application

Challenges we ran into

Connecting this the application to a Tidb was a challenge, creating a pin or code that is know by only the sender and the receiver was a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to encrypt a file successfully was something that I am proud of.

What we learned

I did learn a lot through out this project. I learned how to work with Tidb, some of this thing are not taught in a class setting.

What's next for Data Shield

I do think that there are something that I ought to finish on the application and then I would like to have it available to the world, more importantly to the government, the military in order to make sure that their data does not land in the wrong hands.
