Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from the Punk aspect of Cyberpunk, with the game's message leaning towards Anti-Corporations. We decided to build something against how corporations steal data from us every day.
What it does
Our program takes cookies and terms of service jargon and summarizes it into layman's terms, showing each website and what risks you are accepting when using their services.
How we built it
We used the Google API as the backbone of our program, then used JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to code the Chrome extension, scripts, and frontend.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main problems we faced Google API call limit, but once we restructured the API, we ended up increasing the call limit. We also had separate GitHub repos, and it took us some time to reorganize and compile our work into a single GitHub repo.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making the whole program ourselves, it seemed like a daunting task at first, but we were surprised we could accomplish so much in such a small time frame.
What we learned
We learned how to make a Chrome extension, how to use GitHub, and the most important thing we learned is working in a team.
What's next for Data Rat
We plan on finishing development and possibly submitting to the Chrome Web Store as an extension you can use.
