Inspiration

Having grown up in Chicago, I find data visualization really important but also kind of hard. I wanted to create a platform that makes data visualization easy, and also allows people to make an action plan and get an analysis of social inequality data all in one!

What it does

This Data Visualizer takes in a csv file of a bunch of data from anywhere in the world and maps it with bright, vibrant colors. You can add multiple layers to spot correlations. You can also use AI to spot trends within the data, and the research/action plan features to learn more and take action!

How we built it

I used a variety of new apps (some of which I had never even heard before) to build this platform! I used VS Code, Cursor, Open AI, and a couple of other different programs as well.

Challenges we ran into

As a first time Hackathoner, I was really mainly excited to just learn this time around, not even expecting to submit anything. The biggest challenge I ran into was not being able to find a team in time for the start of the weekend, but this actually ended up allowing me to learn so much from a variety of teams which was so amazing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning so much from the various sponsors and workshops and really getting the most out of the weekend.

What we learned

I have learned SO SO much during this experience, including how to use a lot of the software that I did, and learning about how to not give up when things got challenging!

What's next for Data Mapping for Social Equity

I really want to expand this project and work with other people on it in the future. I have so much to learn and I would love to do that with others!
