Inspiration
I am looking to improve my skills on Java. I thought that maybe that this project could help me expand on it.
What it does
Using excel sheets with the java code. The excel file needs to be within the same folder as the java code. The data will read from each row according to String and Numeric value from the first cell. It'll then create two cells with a bar graph on the first created cell and a waterfall graph on the second created cell. The excel file must be named "input"
How we built it
I Used another program alone as a template and built and expand off it onto eclipse. Had to add jar library files into the references libraries for the functions to work.
Challenges we ran into
There were many setbacks beforehand. This is my first MetroHack and online computer event, and I had NO CLUE on what to do. I wasn't in a group so I had to assume my way out. There were no rubrics or clear instructions and even when listening to the twitch and some of the discord messages, I couldn't grasp a clear idea on what to do. According to the discord messages, I felt like I had to maybe create a website or application that had to help a problem that occurs nowadays but I didn't have the time, knowledge, or manpower.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting a decent simple code done within a day. Participating in this event hoping that it can be used a stepping stone.
What we learned
Time management, plan beforehand, etc.
What's next for this project and the future
There's really nothing next for this. There is an error on the waterfall graph that I couldn't fix on time. The next time, I participate for a event like this, I'll likely create a website or application instead. Honestly, I'm not expecting to be judged appropriately. Just here to submit something as participation. Like I said this is my first metroHacks and I had no idea on what to do at the start.
