Inspiration

What inspired us the most was the challenge, it wasn't the easier to get into. Also, related to the current situation with the blackout, a bit of curiosity of how do the systems work also helped with the choice.

What it does

It is a computer program with different steps for creating a Data Center, from the environment, to the power gen and to the computing cost. It also has a wizard that chooses the best infrastructure for your needs.

How we built it

We used the QT library for python, there we were able to quickly launch a computer program with different screens. Methodology wise, we started with the site architecture, then we tackled the different functionalities of the challenge, dividing and conquering all the bugs.

Challenges we ran into

The lack of prior knowledge of the QT library really held us back, but where there is a will there is a way and we found it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to overcome really challenging milestones and very checky problems with our patience, persistence and will. And we were also able to present a prototype somewhat decent, so that's that.

What we learned

A lot of passive skills, and how to tacke complex problems. Also a lot of QT :)

What's next for Data Center Designer Simulator tm

Finishing some functionalities, such as interconnecting subspaces and the exterior and interior floors of the centre. For we didn't had enought time.
