Inspiration

Enterprise data collection is still way too messy. Teams collect submissions from scattered sources, then lose time cleaning formats, fixing inconsistencies, and chasing access issues before they can do anything useful with the data. I wanted to build something that removes that friction and makes the path from submission to insight much faster.

What it does

Data Boomerang validates data submissions in real time, standardizes incoming formats, and syncs clean, analytics-ready data into Tableau. It also uses Auth0 Token Vault to handle credentials securely, so users stay in control without adding security drag to the workflow.

How I built it

I focused on the full enterprise data flow:

  • collect incoming submissions
  • validate them at intake
  • normalize the data structure and format
  • securely manage access with Auth0 Token Vault
  • sync clean outputs into Tableau for reporting and visibility

My goal was to show an end-to-end system that reduces manual cleanup and speeds up reporting.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing speed, usability, and security in a hackathon build. Real-world enterprise data is inconsistent by default, so I had to think beyond ideal sample data. Another challenge was making secure credential management feel seamless instead of heavy.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I’m proud that Data Boomerang is not just a concept. It tells a clear operational story:

  • bad data gets caught early
  • formats get standardized automatically
  • clean data flows into Tableau faster
  • credential handling stays secure and user-controlled

I’m especially proud of connecting data quality and security in one workflow instead of treating them as separate problems.

What I learned

I learned that data quality is not just a backend issue. It affects trust, speed, reporting, and adoption. I also learned that the best enterprise tools are often the ones that quietly remove friction. Clean inputs create better outputs, and secure workflows create more confidence.

What's next for Data Boomerang: Enterprise Data Collection

What’s next is simple: I’m going to use this app every day. This solves a real problem I deal with all the time at work, which made this project personal from the start. I built it from my own experience, but I designed it in a way that can scale beyond just my workflow. The next step is continuing to use it, refine it, and grow it into something that can support enterprise teams at a larger level.
