The Nile River flows from Sudan to Egypt. The Aswan High Dam controls the flow of water into the fertile regions and cities downstream. The amount of water that dam engineers allow to flow through the dam depends on the number of water reserves in Lake Nasser. Egyptian engineers have been measuring the inflow for over 100 years.
