Inspiration
Data Analysis is very interesting to us, and this was a fantastic opportunity to grow as programmers and developers.
What it does
Our end goal was to train a machine learning algorithm to predict the efficiency of a building based off of various factors, but unfortunately we did not have time to finish training with our data set before the deadline.
How we built it
We used MATLAB image recognition and transformed the given training set into a massive set of images that the algorithm could study and learn patterns from. We also used IBM's Watson Studio to help narrow down our data set to only the most important factors, and reduce the uncertainty of missing values.
Challenges we ran into
None of us have used Python, Watson, or Jupyter before today, and so we decided to play to our strengths and use what we know in our best effort to fulfill the project guidelines.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The machine learning algorithm was built and the data set assembled and sorted, and we built our own image converter from scratch to create the data set.
What we learned
We learned how to use Watson Studio and certainly learned a lot about using MATLAB, as well as some of the basic techniques of data analysis.
