Inspiration

Buying a resale flat is a huge decision, but buyers are not able to see the trend of the resale prices and thus unable to make informed decisions about their purchase in the resale market.

What it does

We plan to create a platform that can forecasts HDB resale prices 6 months ahead using town, flat type, storey range, street name, and remaining lease. Users can also view the demographics of any area they are interested in.

How we built it

We are building our platform using the databricks application such as data processing to model training and deployment.

Challenges we ran into

Our first hurdle was coming up with an idea that stands out from a typical forecast dashboard. We landed on area demographics as our differentiator. But we weren't sure if it was actually doable, since combining price forecasting with demographics sounded too complex during the ideation phase. So we had to carefully scope which features we could realistically build and hoped it would be achievable when it came to the actual implementation.

Databricks is an all rounder platform and we also learned a lot about how to ideate.
