Dash Pictures

Inspiration

We recently heard about when someone hacked their Amazon Dash button to turn on their tesla car. Seeing this one of our member bought a couple. He told us about it and we decided to use one of them. We just thought taking a picture was an easy thing to do.

What it does

This uses the Amazon Dash to communicate with a computer to ssh into a jailbroken iPhone that has the activator tweak to take a picture

How I built it

We found a website that had a python script to listen for the Amazon Dash. We used that to to ssh into an iPhone and then when it picked up on the Dash it through an ssh command to take a picture.

Challenges I ran into

We didn't know how to make the iPhone how to take a picture over wifi. We then found that there was an ssh activator command to take a picture.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We hacked something that seems like an everyday device that would not be hackable.

What I learned

We learned that the iphone is very vulnerable to ssh requests on wifi with a normal root password

What's next for Dash Pictures

Netx, we would like to take pictures more rapidly and make the Dash responsive.
