What it does
In case of a fall or when experiencing a seizure, our device detects this, and automatically calls a pre-registered emergency contact for help.
How we built it
An accelerometer connected to an Arduino senses the 'fall' or 'seizure' motion. When a seizure or fall is detected it connects via bluetooth to a phone and performs a phone call to an emergency contact, and obtain necessary first-hand assistance.
Challenges we ran into
Seemlessly connecting all the parts of the product: connecting the information from the hardware via bluetooth to the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully implemented the hardware part of the project, recognizing different types of seizures and falls. Also, developed our first app.
What we learned
Some team mates used an Arduino and manipulated hardware for the first time. Also, programmed and developed an app for the first time and gained an insight into Android's development environment.
What's next for DASH!
We will optimise our project by refining our code to minimise errors, such as false positives and noise. We plan on making our bluetooth information transfer system work.
