Inspiration
I was inspired by Mrs. Maria Elena Monzani of SLAC Laboratory's talk about dark matter and how wonderful it is! Before attending I had never heard of dark matter before, but I was awed to hear that our universe was made up of a component that many do not know about. I built this game to educate others who may be unaware about dark matter in a fun, engaging way!
What it does
Dark Matter asks users questions about dark matter topics and facts and reviews answers to provide more in-depth learning, as well as giving users multiple chances to choose the correct answer and advance through the game.
How we built it
I built Dark Matter through a media creation platform called Genially.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge I ran into while building Dark Matter was figuring out the best way to teach players about dark matter while still ensuring the gaming experience. I overcome this by reviewing the correct answer after each question so the user would be able to understand the content they are learning while playing the game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am very proud of how the game looks and how it teaches others about the topic on hand! I wanted to code a game that was fun but also provided thorough insight into dark matter, and I believe I succeeded.
What we learned
I learned much about dark matter by researching data, and how to create a game through Genially, as it was my first time using this platform!
What's next for Dark Matter
I would love to implement Dark Matter in a more student-based setting and build my game to be more interactive for the audience.
