Inspiration
We realized how many people were affected by natural disasters every year, and how many didn't even know how to react before, during, and after the disaster.
What it does
It allows the user to browse through various possible disasters, and how to react to them in various different time elements (before, during, and after). It allows the user to use an emergency checklist that contains different items required to be safe during disasters. It also contains a map just in case the user happens to be outdoors.
How I built it
I used MIT app inventor 2.
Challenges I ran into
I ran into the challenge of implementing the map because the phone didn't always show it.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud of the fact that I was able to create a unique UI that is super easy to use, and super helpful for people.
What I learned
I learned how to solve a real-world problem with a simple mobile app that can help many people.
What's next for DAP (Disaster Awareness and Preparedness)
We hope that DAP would be able to reach the phones of whoever needs it to give them the satisfaction that they will be safe.
