Inspiration

As college students, we have to read a big amount of books, while only a small part of what we read is important information that we should revise before the exam. Therefore, we desire to build a website that help users summarize documents that they upload.

What it does

Users can use voice of type to search the title of the book/paper that they want us to summarize. If that document is not available in our library, users are asked to upload their document and Dany will summarize it for them. After Dany finishes summarizing, the document summarized will be added to our library, so that future users can find it.

How we built it

We used wit.ai to train the model, and Java and Spring for the back-end.

Challenges we ran into

Wit.ai only allows us to put text that has less than 280 characters, so we had to divide our input to many parts, each of which has less than 280 characters. That took us a lot of time. Also, as our team members are living in different time zones, our communication was sometimes challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built some other interesting things with wit.ai.

What we learned

We learned about wit.ai and improved our programming skills a lot.

What's next for Dany

We plan to add more feautures to Dany, such as summarizing a mp3 file.
