Inspiration
We were curious about apps like Rock smith were one person plugs in their guitar, and they receive live input from the game correcting their form, notes and many more, and we all thought it would be pretty cool to receive the same thing but for dancing.
What it does
It accesses the user's camera and depending on the form the user does, the program will output certain phrases to either compliment or critique the user's form.
How we built it
We built it using VScode through the Python extensions.
Challenges we ran into
The Camera function having to work as it needed an output device to stream from.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to work together and evenly divide the load and teach each other about different aspects of Python on the fly.
What we learned
How to install certain Python packages in our terminal,
What's next for Dance Monkey
Allow users to watch informational videos on certain genres of dance like Bachata, huapango and many many more and allow for a deeper dive into the dance in order to get the best out of their time using the app and also bring in a live time bot that will speak to the user compared to the user having to read the screen for their responses.
