Dance For Change

Inspiration

There are many slums located to our nearby area where the kids of those slums have fantastic dancing skills and have immense potential but due to lack of resources and platform, they are unable to pursue their passion of dance. This real life issue of lack of resources and platform made us built a web application that is completely free to all the slum kids aspiring to be dancers. This web application will provide them the enormous amount of resources to learn dance and also provide opportunity to showcase their talent in dance events. And everything is for free of cost. Because we believe that money should not decide the future of these bright dancers. Talent and skill should decide the future of them.

What it does

This web application actually gives two options for dancers. One is the page where they can learn dance. This page contains the information of all the dance teachers and mentor available in the city filtered on their dance style where they can just register their dance teacher for free and start learning from them. Another option is the dance events. The dancers can easily register themselves in the dance events happening in their nearby areas by just filling the form, free of cost and can easily participate in those events.

How we built it

We used ReactJS, the javascript framework , css,material ui and bootstrap for UI. We used local storage in order to store the responses of the registrations filled by the dancers. We used Cards from material ui for different templates.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge in this was to store each response of different dancers and show them respectively in our web application. But, we solved this challenge by using localstorage and its features. Routing and passage of data from one path to another was also solved this time smoothly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to complete this project within the time period and whatever we had the vision regarding the free service of dancers coming from slums or poor background, that were fulfilled. We are also proud that we were successful in using localstorage that made our task much easier.

What we learned

We learnt the best use of frameworks like material ui and boostrap and also the main purpose of local storage.

What's next for Dance For Change

We will soon try to spread and promote it to the masses so that our web application be used by the needy dancers and can give a boost to their passion of dance.
