We are the Team MMADD A diverse team of hackers, hipsters and hustlers, working together to seeking sustainable travel style (cost-effective and time-effective ) in the post COVID era.

Victor - “Hi everyone! I am from unimelb and my study is mechatronics. I like quirky ideas and enjoy the process of problem-solving. I see as myself a true planner. And a true planner has to take the 48 hours Hackathon challenge for sure"

Donie - "Hi, I’m Donie. I graduated from Melbourne University last December 2020 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. I’m a Hustler guy in this group! And fun fact about me, I am a go the flow type of traveller. But, after I found Manuwi, my life changed a lot.. Like really a lot. “

Arnold - “Hi guys ! I’m a Computing x HCI enthusiast graduated from the University of Melbourne. I’m the hipster (but I don’t drink coffee) and the hacker (but I’m not a geek) in the group. I’m really bad at planning travels, especially in arranging which place to go first. Having Manuwi really save my life… Now I can just focus on other details and let Manuwi arrange my travelling route.

Michael - “He spent ten years of his life moving to a new city every year. Doing this, he grew to appreciate the challenges of learning how to navigate new cities and all the utility and leisure destinations therein, often dealing with language challenges in the meantime.”

Watch the Pitch Video. Let us learn Sam’s story and see how he use Manuwi to solve his problems.

Inspiration

Our inspiration actually comes from a different version of Sam’s story.

Sam would like to go for some travel spots that he has not been visited for a long time in this weekend. What he wants is to have an optimal experience by spending time and money efficiently. Sam wants to go to Brighton Beach in the morning because he enjoys the morning sunshine of Melbourne. He also wants to visit the Art Museum for a show of his favorite artists on the same day, which is far away from the beach and close early. Sam has a difficult time to decide where to go first. For what he knows viable options to travel could be cars and trams. Sam starts to think ...

What it does

As we believe “Not everyone are good at planning…”

Manuwi is a centralized app for travel planners.

Manuwi can:

  • Create a simple to complex itinerary. It can generates an optimal itinerary with multiple destinations and vehicles to save both time and money
  • Provide routine information about the optimal itinerary. Besides it also provides travel spot information including opening hours, real-time crowd status, ticket price and real-time services updates
  • Utilize user data to feed recommendation that covers the less well known or new travel spots (under-the-radar small museums)
  • Present online booking system that is open to small business and help them attracts more customers (But not yet in our prototype)

About the name

Manuwi (Mundowie) origins from early 19th century Australian pidgin, and it is from Dharuk (one of the Australian Aboriginal languages) which means “foot”. It is another way of interpretation of our travel planner.

We value Australian Aboriginal culture and we hope that we share pride in our designs and products.

Behind the idea

“Post COVID-19 recovery: Sustainability and Resilience”

We have seen Australian tourism that has been hit hard by COVID-19 and bushfires last year.

We also have seen small businesses that have been suffered losses and need to close during level 4 lockdown.

We are now promoting sustainability into our awareness to highlight the idea of cost-efficient and time-efficient, developing resilience that helps the transition of post COVID-19 era.
