Inspiration
Our inspiration came from my friends and I searching the web in order to find something interesting to do. There weren't many blogs that showed us interesting places to go to in NYC. So our idea was to help our fellow New Yorkers explore the amazing places that not many people know about. Our app name "Dally" means to act or goof off. This app would give our users a chance to spend more time with their friends.
What it does
The app uses the google maps api and geolocation to figure out your current location. It shows your current location and traffic data.
What its supposed to do
Our app is supposed to take you to take the home screen and with a push of a button you can find a list of interesting things to do like, silent disco, parks, gardens, museums, rentals (bikes, boats), sightseeing, hiking trails, etc.
How we built it
We used react-native, native, google maps api, node.js. We first built a project with visual studio code and got a sha1 code to use googles cloud platform. Then we implemented googles map api and other react components.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges in learning how to to react native and node.js. We also had trouble implementing new apis and linking apis and pages together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of implementing the google map and finding current user location.
What we learned
We are proud in learning how to use react native and its functions and node.js. We had no knowledge in the beginning but now have many basic understandings.
What's next for Dally
Whats next for Dally is to show Directions, ratings, most fun thing to do, most popular, and able to call these places.
