Inspiration

Many students memorize concepts just to pass exams without truly understanding them. Existing learning platforms often provide static content that doesn't adapt to each learner. We wanted to create an engaging AI tutor that explains topics in simple language and reinforces learning through interactive activities.

What it does

DailyWhy AI is an AI-powered STEM learning platform that makes learning interactive and personalized. Students can: Ask questions about STEM topics. Receive AI-generated explanations tailored to their level. View diagrams and step-by-step breakdowns where appropriate. Take AI-generated quizzes immediately after each lesson. Receive instant feedback and explanations for every answer. Complete daily learning challenges to stay consistent. Track their learning progress over time. Rather than simply giving answers, DailyWhy AI helps students understand concepts through active learning and continuous practice.

How we built it

We built DailyWhy AI using: Next.js TypeScript Tailwind CSS OpenAI API for personalized tutoring and quiz generation. Firebase for authentication and progress tracking. The AI generates explanations, follow-up questions, quizzes, and personalized learning paths based on each student's progress.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was designing an AI experience that encourages understanding instead of simply providing answers. We also worked on making quizzes engaging while ensuring explanations remain accurate and easy to understand.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building an educational platform that combines AI tutoring, personalized learning, interactive quizzes, and daily challenges into a single engaging experience. Instead of replacing teachers, DailyWhy AI acts as a personal learning companion that motivates students to learn consistently.

What we learned

This project taught us how to build AI-powered educational experiences that prioritize engagement, personalization, and long-term learning. We also learned how AI can adapt explanations and assessments to meet the needs of different learners.

What's next for Untitled

We plan to expand DailyWhy AI with: Voice conversations with the AI tutor. Gamification through achievements and leaderboards. AI-generated flashcards and study notes. Support for more academic subjects beyond STEM. Teacher dashboards for monitoring student progress. Collaborative study groups and peer learning. Mobile apps for learning anywhere.
