Inspiration
I often start the day with a long to-do list and end it having made progress on none of the important things — just whatever was loudest or easiest. I wanted a tool that forces a decision every morning: what actually matters today? That's where DailyFocus came from — a way to cut a messy list down to 3 real priorities and build the discipline to stick with them.
What it does
DailyFocus is a simple no-code productivity app. Every morning, you enter your tasks and rank your top 3 priorities for the day. The app tracks whether you complete them and keeps a daily streak counter to build the habit of focused, intentional planning instead of reactive task-juggling. A weekly view shows completion patterns over time.
How we built it
I built DailyFocus entirely no-code using Glide, backed by a Google Sheet as the database. The sheet has two tables — Tasks (date, task text, rank, completed status) and Streaks (auto-calculated from daily completions). Glide's built-in components power the ranking form, the daily checklist screen, and the streak/progress dashboard — no custom code required.
Challenges we ran into
Since this was my first hackathon and my first time working with Glide, the biggest challenge was learning the platform's data-binding and relation logic under time pressure — especially getting the streak counter to calculate correctly based on consecutive completed days. I also had to keep the scope tight as a solo builder, so I focused on core priority-ranking and streak tracking rather than adding extra features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I shipped a fully working, demo-ready app solo, with no prior no-code experience going in. I'm especially proud of getting the streak logic working cleanly without writing any backend code.
What we learned
I learned how much no-code tools like Glide can do with the right data structure, and how important it is to scope a project tightly when working solo under a hackathon deadline.
What's next for DailyFocus
Next steps include adding reminders/notifications, syncing across devices, and letting users reflect at day's end on why a priority was or wasn't completed — turning it into more of a lightweight journaling + productivity hybrid.
