Inspiration
I know that in a work environment most of us hate emails and the constant bombardment with different communications. While communication is important it distracts from the tasks at hand. It is also used as an excuse as to why they were careless in responses or clicks in email / browser /etc.
What it does
This game simulates a quick day at work while you try and perform your task of matching blocks of code while getting a slew of emails - most of which don't matter. While the emails are coming you have a corporate responsibility of reporting the malicious emails to Security so they can resolve - because their scanner let them through.
How we built it
Built it with Unity in 2D with UI elements, Zen Fulcrum (paid license) Browser Asset that allowed me to make emails and fake webpages in HTML to present to users.
Challenges we ran into
Trying to create fake web and fake emails. I tried to make the emails look close to the spam, corp communications, and phishing attempts I see everyday. That time consumption pulled me away from coding and adding in an instant messaging system -and branching story.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting it done in a compete state in the time given.
What we learned
Had to freshen up on JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
What's next for Daily Work Grind
Add in actual navigable web sites - instead of single pages that only link to blocked sites. Add in Instant Messaging. More emails - that look better. More types of threats that have negative effects on the virtual system.
