Inspiration
I’ve always loved collecting quotes, those little bursts of wisdom or motivation that can totally change your day. I wanted to build a place where anyone could discover, save, and share their favorite quotes in a way that feels modern, beautiful, and fun. That’s how Daily Quote Wall was born: a digital space for daily inspiration, designed to be as uplifting as the words themselves.
What it does
Daily Quote Wall is a web app where you can scroll through an endless wall of curated quotes, like and save your favorites, and share them straight to X with a single click. If you’re logged in, you can even add your own quotes to the wall, and keep track of everything you love in your personal profile. The whole experience is super clean, responsive, and animated so it feels great on any device.
How we built it
I built the frontend with React and TypeScript, using Tailwind CSS for styling. For the UI, I leaned heavily on Shadcn UI and Magic UI to get that modern, animated feel. Supabase handles the backend/database, authentication, and real-time features. I focused a lot on making the grid layout smooth and responsive, and making sure everything is accessible and easy to use.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the infinite scroll grid to look good and work smoothly on every screen size was a real challenge. I also spent a lot of time making sure the app was accessible, and that the animations didn’t slow anything down. Integrating authentication and user-specific features securely with Supabase took some trial and error, but it was worth it for the end result.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m really proud of how clean and modern the UI turned out, and how seamless the experience feels especially with all the little animations and transitions. The integration of Shadcn UI and Magic UI really makes the app stand out. I’m also happy with how easy it is for users to submit, save, and share quotes, and how well the app performs even with lots of content.
What we learned
This project taught me a ton about building accessible, responsive UIs, and about using modern component libraries to speed up development without sacrificing quality. I learned a lot about Supabase, especially around authentication and real-time data. And I was reminded how important it is to keep performance and accessibility in mind from the very beginning.
What's next for Daily Quote Wall
I’d love to add personalized quote recommendations, more advanced filtering and search, and maybe even some social features like following other users or sharing collections. A mobile app could be really cool too. I’m also planning to keep improving the analytics and insights for users, and to keep pushing the design and performance even further.
OVERALL I WANT TO MAKE IT A "LETTERBOXD.COM" BUT FOR QUOTES
