Inspiration

I wanted a calm daily check-in that feels rewarding in under a minute. Quotes are easy to consume, and a garden is a simple visual metaphor for growth, consistency, and small wins.

What it does

Quote Garden is a Snapchat game where you: Read one new quote each day Place one flower per day Watch your garden gradually fill in and feel more alive over time

How I built it

I built Quote Garden in Lens Studio with a focus on a lightweight daily loop plus persistent cloud storage so your garden progress stays across sessions and devices.

Daily system: I compare today’s date to the last claimed day to allow only one flower per day. Persistence: I store garden progress so the flowers remain across sessions. Flower placement: Tap-to-place with light constraints so the garden stays readable and cute. UI: Minimal on-screen elements so the quote stays the hero.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping it truly simple: It is easy to add features that clutter the experience, so we kept only the loop that matters. Daily timing edge cases: Handling day changes cleanly without confusing the player. Making flowers feel satisfying: Getting variety and placement to look natural while staying lightweight.

What I learned

Small, consistent interactions can create strong retention without complex mechanics. “One action per day” is a powerful constraint for peaceful games.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

A complete daily loop that takes seconds but encourages returning. Persistent garden progress so players can build something personal over time. A cozy vibe that matches the theme and does not overwhelm the quote.
