Daily Motivational & Funny Message Sender

Inspiration

In a morning I often feel tired, so I wanted something to motivate me in a morning and get up an ready for the day!

What it does

Sends a text message every morning (7am UTC) to motivate you :)

How we built it

I built it following along with Mara's stream. We used Twilio to send text messages, and the schedule library to send the message at specific times of day.

Challenges we ran into

• Getting schedule to work at first

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• It works! I actually received text messages!

What we learned

• The basics of what Twilio is and how it works
• Using schedule to run functions in Python at specific times
• How to add secrets to Replit

What's next for Daily Motivational & Funny Message Sender

Other ideas:

• Daily weather update
• A daily medication reminder
• Repeat prescription reminder
• General reminder messages (have the user set their own reminders)
• Querying Wikipedia over text message? (Add some functionality to and old nokia phone lol) :P
