About the Project

Inspiration

The idea for ExplainMyWorkflow came from a common problem faced by developers and automation builders. When sharing n8n workflows, they are usually exported as JSON files. These JSON files are often complex and difficult to understand, especially for beginners. I wanted to create a tool that could turn these complex workflow files into simple, human-readable explanations and setup guides.

What I Learned

While building this project, I learned how to analyze structured workflow data and convert it into meaningful explanations using AI. I also improved my understanding of automation workflows, JSON structures, and how AI can be used to generate developer-friendly documentation.

How I Built the Project

ExplainMyWorkflow is a web application where users can upload or paste an n8n workflow JSON file. The system analyzes the workflow structure, including nodes, triggers, connections, and integrations. After analyzing the workflow, the platform generates a clear step-by-step guide explaining how the workflow works and how to set it up.

Challenges I Faced

One of the biggest challenges was accurately interpreting complex workflow structures and presenting them in a clear and understandable way. Another challenge was ensuring the generated explanations remained simple and helpful for both beginners and experienced developers.
