Inspiration

We were interested in AI with the recent development in AI and release of ChatGPT. After hearing the Co:here presentation, we decided to give it a try!

We've used journals and journal apps before but never stuck with one. We thought it would be cool to have a 'Spotify Wrapped at the end of your yearly, monthly, and even weekly journal entries.

What it does

Have you ever found yourself at the end of a hectic month and thought, "What even happened last week"? dAIly is the AI diary tool you can count on to keep you grounded and remind you just what you've been up to.

dAIly is an online diary that you can write to that will give you a summary of things that happened in the past week and month. There is also a calendar view where you can see all of your entries and click in to specific entries.

How we built it

Basic Web App, combined with NLP model that we created original prompt to extract and summarize the daily activities, so you can have an AAR (AI-generated Accurate Review). The user inputs text in the React frontend, and our server communicates with co:here's Generate API to summarize the key events from each diary entry. The results are then passed back to the frontend for the user to explore and introspect.

Challenges we ran into

Communication between designers and programmers during a time crunch.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating both a low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototype in Figma within 48 hours. Learning lots of React hooks and creating an infinite calendar!

What we learned

Have a strong vision for your product Check-ins are helpful most of the time

What's next for dAIly by HackShack

Our next goal would be to allow users to add their own images. Then using keywords or themes, AI mood recognition for the entries to create a visual analysis/mood tracker at the end of the month.
