Inspiration

I am very big on advocacy and on raising awareness about various issues taking place worldwide. So I decided to utilize my knowledge of web development to focus on refugee crises that are currently ongoing, resulting from humanitarian issues that are ranked as worst in history.

What it does

The website raises awareness about current refugee crises. It includes the top 6 refugee crises worldwide and various statistics about them. Lastly, the website includes a shortcut to donation sites where users are able to contribute to the bettering of these conditions.

How we built it

This projects gives you a quick rundown on current top 6 refugee crises worldwide. It also includes donation links where you are able to contribute and better these refugee crises. It was primarily build on replit platform using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge I encountered when building this project was formatting. I envisioned the end piece and what was on my screen did not align with that image. But, I was able to solve these issues after playing around with functions in CSS page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to raise awareness and bring this topic to the spotlight for others to learn about. I am very happy with how it ended up looking, despite wanting to add a couple more things.

What we learned

I tried out to make the webpage more responsive based on the device a viewer was using and I was proud with how it ended up working. While conducting my research, I was also able to learn more about these issues and broaden my knowledge bank. I loved the incorporation of different design in my layout and improving in choosing color schemes for the webpage. As well as learning how to alter the appearance of page layout based on device.

What's next for Daiana Azimova

This was an amazing experience for my first hackathon. I look forward to participating in more of these and further using this knowledge to raise awareness on social justice issues.
