Inspiration

Women. We feel inspired seeing our mothers and sisters creating life and going having to overcome so many obstacles and challenges. And the people that help them, the midwives, are equally as igniting. Feminism is still needed in so many parts of the world. We must use our resources and our knowledge to alleviate the pains and pressures of womanhood as best as we possibly could.

What it does

How we built it

Introducing our solution! If any midwives have trouble, they don't need to go to a different app. Simply send a photo of the data through WhatsApp. It will ask you to confirm a CIN (government issued identification number) or it will create a random generated an encrypted id number.

Then it will spit out the transcribed information and you can confirm, or manually change anything you want!

After the photo, the data gets processed …

The data gets put into our database, which is of course encrypted. But we are still able to extract information and present it. As an additional step for further research, we have included a dashboard.

Everybody benefits!

Challenges we ran into

We had to make sure that the structure of our data had to stay consistent throughout all the files and paths.

We had to make sure that no data leaks out to ensure total protection of privacy. To do so, we had to figure out from scratch how hash a key to be stored in our database as an identifier.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of working so well together as a team and being able to achieve a working, useful and realistic product.

What we learned

We learned a lot. We learned about automated workflows, encryption.

And you definitely learn something new about JavaScript every single day...

What's next for dAI-0

We would like to work more on scalability. We could like to be able to collaborate with researchers to make sure that the data analyzed and presented in our dashboards correspond to what they actually need and want.
