Inspiration
Social media today rewards perfection over personality, and we wanted to change that. da:bble was created to make sharing online fun and spontaneous again. We were inspired by the nostalgic feeling of capturing authentic moments with friends: those brief, carefree clips that used to make us laugh without overthinking.
What It Does
da:bble is a playful app that generates a unique prompt each day for you to complete! These prompts can vary from anything! From "Hug a tree" to "Do the mannequin challenge with 2 friends". Each challenge is completed in one short 30 second long take with no redos. After recording, you can instantly share your clip with friends, making it a relaxed and authentic way to connect. Our goal is to bring back the joy of sharing without the expectation of being perfect.
How We Built It
We designed and built da:bble around the idea of spontaneity. Using Figma and Framer, we focused on creating a simple experience that keeps users engaged through fun prompts and effortless sharing. We worked carefully on the recording process to keep it quick, smooth, and easy to use from start to finish.
Challenges We Ran Into
A main challenge was finding the right balance between randomness and nostalgia. We wanted each prompt to spark creativity while still feeling natural and personal. It took several iterations to fine tune the experience and maintain that balance.
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of
We are proud that da:bble encourages people to share more freely. During testing, users said it felt refreshing to post something real again without worrying about their image or how many likes they might receive. Seeing that genuine response reinforced our mission.
What We Learned
We learned that even small design choices can greatly influence user confidence. Taking time to understand emotional barriers and key pain points like the fear of judgment allowed us to design an experience that feels comfortable and inclusive.
What’s Next for DABBLE
Our next step is to expand the challenge library with more personalized and nostalgia themed experiences. We also plan to introduce collaborative prompts that let friends record mini “duets” together. In addition, we hope to integrate da:bble easily into current social platforms including instagtam, snapchat, and BeReal, through instant story formatting and share-ability. Our vision is for da:bble to become a space where authenticity and creativity naturally connect people, reminding them that the Internet can still be fun :b
