Inspiration
We wanted to make the D2L website more accessible from mobile devices
What it does
It provides all the same functionality as D2L does plus more (chatbot, better calendar, etc)
How we built it
We built it in 2 parts: Backend and Mobile. Backend is using AWS technologies (Lambda, Cognito, Dynamo DB, S3, API Gate, Bedrock, IAM, ClodWatch and more). The mobile is written using Flutter SDK and supports Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows and Web
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of challenges we faced during the development. More complex ones are AI chatbot and Push Notifications to keep the students up to date with their studies
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the amount of work we have accomplished in a single day. This was nonstop work and we think it is going to pay off
What we learned
During the development of this project, we learned tons of new technologies that we have never used in our lives before: AWS Bedrock, APNS, FCM, AWS Fargate and more
What's next for D2L-Plus
We sincerely believe that our project has a bright future, and may help millions of students worldwide to get more comfortable, easy-to-access studies
