Inspiration
Cypher was born from a simple question: why do we need so many subscriptions to powerful AI tools, yet struggle to make them work together?
Today, users face two major barriers to AI adoption: cost and complexity. Connecting different tools requires managing APIs, integrating services, and orchestrating agents. We envisioned a world where anyone could harness the power of multiple AI tools without needing technical expertise. That vision became Cypher.
What it does
Cypher brings AI tools together into one seamless experience. It transforms subscription-based services into token-based APIs, allowing users to pay for what they use, while handling agent orchestration behind the scenes. With thousands of agentic plugins and a simple interface, Cypher automatically matches tasks with the right tools to achieve a goal.
For example, a venture capitalist can use Cypher to:
- analyze an investment thesis,
- screen 1,000 founders,
- identify the 10 most promising candidates,
- and schedule meetings,
all in less than an hour. But Cypher isn't just for VCs. It's designed to bring the power of agentic AI to anyone, regardless of their technical background.
How we built it
We built Cypher around three core principles: accessibility, efficiency, and intelligent orchestration.
- Accessibility: we designed an interface that lets users focus on their goals rather than the technical steps required to achieve them.
- Efficiency: we developed an approach to making AI services accessible through token-based APIs, so users pay for usage rather than juggling multiple subscriptions.
- Intelligent orchestration: we brought together a growing ecosystem of agentic plugins and an orchestration layer that coordinates tools to complete complex, multi-step tasks.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was addressing both the cost and the complexity of using multiple AI tools. Connecting services is only part of the problem; making them work together intelligently to accomplish a user's goal is another.
We wanted to abstract away the technical complexity without sacrificing flexibility or usefulness. Designing an experience that makes sophisticated agentic workflows accessible to non-technical users has been central to our approach.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're most proud of how we realized our vision of making agentic AI accessible beyond developers and technical teams. Cypher brings together AI tools, token-based usage, and orchestration in a unified experience designed around outcomes rather than individual applications.
We're especially excited by the potential to transform workflows like venture capital sourcing, where users can move from a broad investment thesis to a focused list of promising founders and scheduled meetings in a fraction of the time traditionally required.
What we learned
The real value of AI isn't simply having access to more powerful models or tools. It's making them work together to solve real problems. Users shouldn't need to understand APIs, manage integrations, or coordinate agents to benefit from AI. By focusing on outcomes, reducing friction, and simplifying access, we can make advanced AI workflows available to a much broader audience.
What's next for Cypher
Our next step is to expand Cypher's ecosystem of agentic plugins, improve how tools are selected and orchestrated, and make increasingly complex workflows possible through a simple interface. We aim to support more use cases across industries, helping individuals and teams automate repetitive work, make better-informed decisions, and turn ideas into action.
Ultimately, our goal is to make Cypher the place where anyone can put AI to work. All you need is the ambition; Cypher handles the complexity.
