Inspiration
Inspired by the lack of streamlined recycling in my college residence building, CycleVend aims to transform a waste stream into profit. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns but also capitalizes on the opportunity to generate income from recyclable materials.
What it does
CycleVend enables users to choose from four common waste streams, allowing them to store items in a virtual recycling bin that displays relevant information about each product.
How I built it
I built this using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges I ran into
I faced challenges in developing the backend due to a lack of proficient knowledge, despite making several attempts that ultimately led to failure. Additionally, I decided to part ways with my original teammate due to difficulties in effectively collaborating.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I take pride in enhancing my skills with GitHub and JavaScript, enabling me to successfully publish a website through GitHub and further expanding my understanding of JavaScript.
What I learned
I gained valuable insights into Docker and Google Cloud; however, despite acquiring this knowledge, I did not end up utilizing these technologies. Additionally, I learned the proper techniques for pushing and pulling from GitHub.
What's next for CycleVend
I aim to transform this into a successful startup through dedicated efforts, implementing significant improvements, and refining both the code and business plan.
