Inspiration
We were inspired by the theme of cycle. We considered multiple different cycles in our game, including the cycle of seasons, and the cycle of life.
What it does
Our project is a 2D platform game.
How we built it
We built our project using Unity and C#. We used a combination of premade assets as well as our own custom ones.
Challenges we ran into
Prior to the hackathon, only one member of our group had experience using Unity. It was definitely a learning curve for us as we spent the first multiple hours learning how to create and program projects using it. We also had some issues using Git with Unity, which we managed to fix right before submission time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite it being our first time using Unity, we worked incredibly hard and managed to finish a game with multiple levels that we were satisfied with.
What we learned
During the first few multiple of the hackathon, we taught ourselves how to use Unity and program in C# . We had to play around a lot with physics and custom assets in our project, but ultimately we learned a lot which we can continue to use in the future!
What's next for Cycle of Life
If we had more time, we would have definitely added better and more fun mechanics to the game, including more characters, levels, and obstacles.
