Inspiration Every app just runs behind the math model to calculate outcomes, focusing mostly on surface-level data. But with a background in pharmaceutical science and biology, we wanted to think differently at a micro-level. The real spark came from a personal moment: "Due to my partner's period, she was not able to attend a fest with me, and she didn't want to eat anything."Seeing her struggle with pain and severe loss of appetite inspired us to build a tool that recommends phase-specific foods and craving swaps—helping reduce menstrual pain and cramps so no one has to face it alone

What it does Cycle-Bite is a privacy-first, cycle-synced nutrition assistant that calculates your current hormonal phase (Menstrual, Follicular, Ovulatory, or Luteal) and delivers personalized meal recipes and PMS craving swaps

How we built it

  • Frontend & UI: Built with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and HTML for a responsive interface
  • Backend & Logic: Powered by Python, SQL, and JSON to process dietary outcomes and biological cycle metrics

Challenges we ran into

  1. Cycle Calculation & Integration: Harmonizing the variable phases of the female reproductive system since every individual's cycle length and phase impact differs
  2. Managing Multiple Programming Languages: Juggling different languages and configurations locally in VSCodium where environment discrepancies often caused output failures
  3. Empathy-Driven Design: Learning to think in a deeply human, empathetic manner to balance technical logic with emotional understanding

What we learned We dove deep into a comprehensive revision of the entire female reproductive system—practically finishing next semester's syllabus ahead of time—while learning how to bridge life sciences with software architecture to create practical health solutions
