Inspiration :We were inspired by the increasing number of cyberattacks in South Africa, which cost companies millions of rands every year. Many businesses lose data, money, and trust because they cannot afford expensive security tools. Seeing this gap pushed us to create a solution that uses AI to stop threats early and train people to be cyber-aware.

What it does: MellowTech provides AI-powered cybersecurity that protects businesses, schools, and government systems from cyberattacks. It detects threats early, blocks them in real-time, and trains users to prevent risks. Our platform combines technology with awareness programs to create safer digital environments.

How we built it: We built MellowTech by first researching the most common cyber threats in South Africa. Then we developed an AI engine that analyzes network traffic and user behavior to detect suspicious patterns. We created a prototype, tested it with simulated attacks, and improved it step by step. Finally, we added a training module to educate users on how to stay safe online.

Challenges we ran into:Limited funding for advanced tools and equipment.

Convincing small businesses to invest in cybersecurity.

Integrating AI models with existing security systems.

Building trust in a market where established competitors dominate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: Successfully built an AI prototype that detects and blocks threats.

Designed an affordable solution suitable for small and medium businesses.

Created a training program to improve cyber awareness.

Gained positive feedback from initial tests and potential partners.

What we learned: AI can make cybersecurity faster and smarter than traditional methods.

User training is as important as technology in preventing attacks.

Collaboration and persistence help overcome funding and resource challenges.

The market needs solutions that are both strong and simple to use.

What's next for cybersecurity: The future of cybersecurity is AI-driven and proactive, not reactive. For MellowTech, the next steps are to:

Develop stronger AI algorithms that can predict new threats.

Expand services to other African countries.

Partner with government and private organizations to strengthen digital infrastructure.

Continue raising awareness so every user becomes part of the defense against cybercrime.
