Inspiration

Healthcare resources in Nova Scotia are becoming increasingly limited. With a shortage of healthcare professionals and a growing population, this leaves many doctors overworked, and many patients unsatisfied with service availability. Our solution is to streamline appointment processes for practitioners and improve communication and trust between patients and doctors.

What it does

Our concept is to have a Generative AI chatbot connected directly to the physician's patient report. The bot is capable of but not limited to:

  • Catching and alerting physicians about duplication in laboratory and radiology testing within the same system.
    • Ability for patients to gain clarity by asking chatbot questions that may seem simple to a doctor but not to someone in the medical field.
    • Helps reduce preference misdiagnosis, by allowing patients to feel more informed about decision making.
    • Assist doctors with finding medical records and, give information to doctors specific to their client, that might have been overseen or withheld.

How we built it

  • Frontend (Mockup + Webpage): HTML, CSS, JS
  • Backend: Python, Django
  • Data Processing/Mining: pandas (Python)

Challenges we ran into

We have 3 major components. The biggest challenge we ran into was linking the 3 components together to come together as a complete application, within our time constraints.

What's next for CyberMed

Here are additional features that we, as a team, would love to explore:

  • Generative AI chatbot connected directly to all medical professional pages, that can assist with daily tasks, without being a hindrance or annoyance. These tasks might include, but would not be limited to.
  • Participating in a 3-way conversation with patient and the doctor to deliver solutions in simplified english, for patients.
  • Document creation
  • Client specific information
  • Let doctors or pharmacists find medicines that function similarly and might react the best for the client based on their medical experiences.
  • Flagging for software issues, I.E. Duplicate records, time management skills, etc..
  • Use videos and pictures to demonstrate procedures thoroughly to clients.
  • Generative AI chatbot that can be brought home by patients in a limited access app form. This can assists patients with:
  • Assist, when patients have tough decisions to make, I.E. to do or to not to do surgery. The patient can use the app to talk more about the information the doctor gave them, with direct access to their history and stories similar to theses and how they turned out.
  • Patients who are stubborn and do not like going to the doctors can consult an AI bot personalized to them that does not make decisions for them but provides information based on questions.
