Inspiration

We are tired to see our grand-parents using passwords like “puppy01” for either their bank account or their sudoku websites passwords. More than 2 billion passwords are leaked and 70 million people fall victim to cyber crimes every year. Among those, many could have been avoided by knowing and applying the basics of cybersecurity. This is why we created this educative tool for the whole family.

What it does

Our desktop app includes a password analyser, a generator, a manager tool as well as a Wi-fi network analyser. Unlike our competitors, we provide our customer different types of passwords ranging from complex and random or simple and long words to the strengthening of a password that is dear to him. As his cybersecurity partner, we make sure that our customer is aware of every threat he could face thanks to a playful educational quizz. Indeed, we offer a real training experience when we detect a decline in his cybersecurity habits.

How we built it

We used the library "tkinter" for the frontend both for the app navigation and for the quiz, combined with our own logics and useful libraries that have included databases (ex: most leaked passwords) for password analysis and generation.

Challenges we ran into

None of us were good at frontend so it was a very interesting and challenging project. Making our Quiz working was long as well as scanning the WiFi IP regardingless of the operating system.

We have an easy-to-use tool that is clear and robust that will be truly useful to anyone.

What we learned

We learnt a lot in terms of project management and more specifically in the field of cybersecurity, that you need to really understand the threats in order to protect yourself as well as possible.
