CyberPhish GO:
Inspired by: To be honest, the story of a fish named Cyber is a deeply rooted feeling that I think we all share, and that's the desire feel safe and connected. CyberPhish GO came about during a very difficult time in my life. Much like Cyber, feeling lost, misunderstood, and lonely, I created this game to tell my story in hopes that it helps someone else facing stress and uncertainty with the rapid speed in evolving technology and expectation to know every little thing to feel safe while exploring and navigating the world of the web. Through this game Cyber teaches you about phishing, the most common way that hackers use to steal information. While your job is to help Cyber collect the computer parts that are needed to repair the sim to it's original state before everything is lost in memory. There are also impactful messages that Cyber gives the player to remind them through it all to, "Take it one byte at a time".
How I Built It: I Built this with Unity Engine for the gaming platform including Meta XR Core SDK, Meta XR Interaction SDK, Meta XR OVR Integration, MetaXR Audio SDK, Shapes XR for the rapid prototyping and UX/UI, Figma for user journey and experience, Confluence for the dev/ design documentation, Jira for the project management and software/ hardware testing/ debugging.
Challenges I ran into: Version compatibility and the hand tracking capabilities for the interaction input system when little to no documentation was provided using the latest version 64 of the meta presence platform tools.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: I did this all on my own, to show that with the Presence Platform this is possible. Everything from the art, design, UX, story, to the game mechanics and script development was all created by me using the Meta Presence Platform SDK Building Blocks. As a Hispanic female, I wanted to show people that developing, designing, and making a game or immersive experience doesn't have to be a scary journey, and that it's actually the most rewarding feeling to tell your story and bring your ideas to life.
What I learned: That if you really love something and connect with it deeply, you will find a way to collect all the pieces you need to feel safe and connected by just taking it one byte at a time.<3
