We wanted to create something geared toward one of the challenges on the hackathon website. We felt that the cyberbully challenge was a doable project for us given our programming experience. We chose to go with a chrome extension to keep it small and manageable.

CyberFilter hides a list of predetermined words and allows the user to add others in options.

We built it by adapting two other chrome extensions to accomplish our idea of filtering offensive and triggering words.

We both had to learn javascript and spent a lot of time understanding what the code was doing.

We are proud that we have a working project that does what we wanted.

We learned how to make basic chrome extensions and use javascript.

Next we could block websites that have many offensive and triggering words. We could also have it so that it tracks pages that the user is visiting so that parents/guardians can keep track of websites their children are going onto.
